Team Leader - Nutanix Technology Champion - Nutanix NTC Storyteller

Julien DUMUR
Infrastructure in a Nutshell

The page of the year 2023 has just turned and we are just beginning the chapter 2024, the time has therefore come to take stock of the year which has just passed and to unveil the roadmap for this new year which begins…

First of all, I would like to wish you all an excellent new year and my best wishes for 2024. I hope that this year will keep you all in good health with great things in perspective, both on a personal level and professional.

Without further ado, here is my retrospective for 2023…

Review of the year 2023: not bad but can do better

Health side:

  • nasopharyngitis which took me 6 weeks to get rid of at the start of the year
  • a sequence of flu then COVID, my first, which completely knocked me out at the end of the year
  • the appearance of tinnitus in the wake of COVID and which still hasn’t let go of me
  • my left hallux valgus which also decided to ruin my life (probably out of jealousy for her boyfriend on the right who had surgery 8 years ago)

The two periods mentioned were therefore punctuated by a certain physical fatigue, not crazy but I’m not doing so badly compared to others.

Professional side:

  • 3 Nutanix certifications (NCS Core, NCA and NUS)
  • a long-term mission as team leader of a network team in a large group
  • some Nutanix missions (3 deployments, 1 re-ip, 1 expand)
  • an event: the Nutanix Partner Technology Summit
  • a distinction and not the least: Nutanix Technology Champion 2024

A rather nice year and quite varied in terms of missions with some great accomplishments which are pleasing.

For the rest, in bulk:

  • resumption of technical articles on this blog, not as regularly as desired
  • returning to road cycling, I try to limit myself to 3 outings per week when possible
  • return to swimming with the local swimming circle with 1 to 2 sessions per week
  • installation of a photovoltaic system on the house
  • some development work in the garage to accommodate the 2 3D printers
  • continued development of the garden and interior decoration

A busy year that I didn’t see pass (which is a good sign) which is fading to make way for the next one…

Roadmap 2024: continuing the momentum

First of all, on the health side, the priority objective is to have the left Hallux Valgus operated on as soon as possible. This should rebalance my posture, prevent my body from constantly compensating, reduce pain during exercise (and allow me to resume running peacefully.

The convalescence linked to the operation will allow me to revise and attempt 2 new certifications, the NCSE and the NCM-MCI, and bring me back to what I love the most: the infrastructure around Nutanix. I should come out of convalescence just in time to be able to go to Barcelona for the next .Next Nutanix which will take place at the end of May!

The operation will allow me to resume running. The sporting objective of the year is to continue swimming and cycling, and gradually integrate running sessions, but no triathlon project in sight, it is only to keep in shape.

I also plan to continue to regularly supply this blog with technical articles, but perhaps not exclusively, this is under study. The goal is to be able to publish between 2 and 4 articles per month and to maintain my NTC status at the end of the year.

Among the new topics that will appear here, there will probably be home automation, because I am gradually home automation of the whole house, but also photovoltaics since I recently had the panels installed. This will allow me to provide regular feedback to all those who would like to embark on the adventure.

For the rest, a “dash” of video games, a little more Magic The Gathering (don’t tell my wife!) and I’ll try to enjoy myself throughout the year both personally and professionally.

Happy New Year to everyone!
