In the last blog post, I told you about my second day at .NEXT 2025, but there is one element I intentionally omitted to mention…

The “Champions Power Lunch”

On Thursday afternoon, Angelo organized a lunch for us with all the Nutanix Technology Champions present at the event and other members of various internal programs. It was the perfect opportunity to connect and chat over a delicious meal.

But Angelo didn’t stop there, as he also invited three distinguished guests: Rajiv Ramaswami, Thomas Cornely, and Jason Longpre!

They participated in the Q&A session, and they were well catered for! There were quite a few questions, which they answered with complete transparency. Unfortunately, the session was somewhat marred by a number of questions and near-complaints about the quality of the support, which some found to be degraded.

It’s a shame to have wasted time on such a topic when we’re lucky enough to have these three publishers in front of us, but that’s how it is. I hope to have another Q&A session at the next Tech Connect in San Jose!

Nutanix Trophy Awards

This year, after lunch, Nutanix decided to reward three people for their involvement in the community with three trophies:

  • Nutanix Community Excellence
  • Nutanix NTC Storyteller
  • Nutanix User Group Champion

The Nutanix User Group Champion trophy was won by Kevin Kimball for his personal involvement in the Nutanix User Groups.

The Nutanix Community Excellence trophy was awarded to my dear Jeroen Tielen for his involvement in the community forums.mmunautaires, une récompense bien méritée compte tenu de son activité incroyable sur les forums !

And finally, the Nutanix NTC Storyteller Award was awarded to me for my “insightful and impactful contributions to the Nutanix community through my thought leadership and blog posts. My expertise and storytelling have enriched conversations and inspired innovation.”

I thank Nutanix for awarding me this prize, which recognizes my investment in the blog, Slack channels, and social media.

After a rather busy first day, I took advantage of the time difference to be at the convention center as soon as it opened to make the most of the second day.

This allowed me to spend some time with my NTC colleagues in the Community Lounge over coffee while waiting for the keynote!

The motto: demos, a few announcements, and more demos!

Lee Caswel kicked off the keynote by thanking all the event’s partners and welcoming us to .NEXT 2025.

He then quickly went on to summarize the first day, including support for Dell Powerflex and Pure Storage external storage, the Omnissa VDI solution, AOS cloud native, and Agentic AI.

Today’s keynote program:

  • Modern Hybrid Cloud
  • Simplicity at Scale
  • Air Gapped Cyber Resilience
  • Cloud Native Anywhere

Lee is then joined on stage by Thomas Cornely, who takes over for a series of demos.

Modern Hybrid Cloud

We’re used to it: the queen of demos, Laura Jordana, joins Thomas on stage to give us a first demonstration of the integration of Dell Powerflex with Nutanix.

The wow factor:

  • 3-click integration
  • Direct access to the PowerFlex console from Prism
  • Demonstration of a workload migration via Move to a Dell PowerFlex cluster

Simple, fast, and effective, the demo allowed us to see how amazingly simple it is to integrate Dell Powerflex into a Nutanix environment.

To avoid creating jealousy, the same demo was performed for Pure Storage and the same conclusion was reached: it’s simple, fast, and effective!

Barely time to catch our breath, Laura continues with a demonstration of Omnissa Horizon 8 on AHV and the demonstration alone made me want to test the solution… I’ll have to wait until this summer to access the beta but stay tuned!

Finally, the last demonstration of this first part focused on the support of Flow Virtual Networking on Google Cloud for seamless migration between on-prem and GC infrastructure.

Simplicity at Scale

Laura Jordana gives up her place on stage to Artur Krzywdzinski who will deliver the Simplicity at Scale portion of the keynote.

And it starts with centralized management thanks to Nutanix Central!

Automated deployment with zero-touch provisioning, multi-cluster updates via LCM, it’s all there! Or how to revolutionize the management and administration of our Nutanix environments in a single interface! It’s a dream, believe me!

Air Gapped Cyber Resilience

Jason Burns takes Artur’s place on stage to talk about security, particularly in isolated environments. We’re starting with Flow Network Security, featuring its “Next Gen” version in Flow Virtual Networks!

But security doesn’t stop there, and snapshots also benefit from two innovations:

  • immutable snapshots in NUS Files
  • multi-cloud snapshots in NUS Objects bunker

A new version of Data Lens on-prem, capable ofétecter les menaces en moins de 6 minutes a également été annoncée pour la fin de l’année 2025.

Cloud Native Anywhere

Without transition, we’ll move on to José Gomez on stage, who will talk to us about fleet management on the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform, which allows you to centralize updates and simplify provisioning!

Agentic AI

It was then Ashwini Vasanth’s turn to give us a demonstration of agentic AI, including the translation of an uploaded document into several languages and the verification of the conformity (tone, language, compliance with codes, etc.) of an uploaded video.

This demonstration was truly amazing because everything happened almost instantly!

Express Certification!

I signed up to revalidate my Unified Storage 6.10 certification, and I must say it was a breeze, as I was able to earn my certification in just 26 minutes! Obviously, the main reason was that I didn’t want to miss the last keynote of the show…

The Final Keynote

For the final keynote of the event, Tarkan Manner kicked off the show with thanks to the various sponsors before handing over to Evy Pompouras, a former Secret Service agent, who gave us a talk on communication and how to use it to maintain control during discussions.

A very interesting topic, during which she offered a wealth of advice on how to improve our verbal and non-verbal communication.

Finally, the long-awaited moment of the last keynote arrived: the announcement of the next destination for .NEXT!

Chicago has therefore been chosen to host the next edition of the event, which will take place from April 7 to 9, 2026!

Nutanix .NEXT Party

Since a .NEXT without a .NEXT Party isn’t really a .NEXT, the publisher organized an impressive closing party as usual.

DJs, bars, buffets… There were even stands where you could get a temporary tattoo or even get a cap personalized by graffiti artists!

Unfortunately, the evening often ends around 9 p.m., but we didn’t let it get us down! We went out for one last meal with the entire Mikadolabs team, the Nodelink and HYCU teams, and even Brad, one of my NTC colleagues!

After a rather short night due to the previous evening and jet lag, I set off for the Washington Convention Center for the launch of the first day of Nutanix .NEXT 2025.

NTCs! Gathering!

The first mission was to find a coffee, a large coffee, a very large coffee, because I already knew it was going to be a long day… Once I had my precious coffee, I headed straight to the Nutanix Technology Champions’ meeting point: the Community Lounge.

I had the pleasure of meeting Angelo, Jeroen, Brad, Jason, Avi, Kim, Bart, Angela, and many others there, with whom we were able to make sure that everyone had a good trip, discuss the 3 days to come, exchange our stickers specially designed for the occasion, which allowed us to pass the time until the time came for the Keynote…

WELCOME TO .NEXT 2025 !!!

Traditionally, the first .NEXT keynote is the one that reveals the majority of the publisher’s big announcements, and this edition was no exception!

To kick off the show, we were able to count on Mandi Dhaliwal who, after warmly thanking the event’s sponsors, quickly handed over to Rajiv Ramaswami, CEO of Nutanix.

After a short introduction in which he presented himself with his muscular starter pack boosted with AI, .NEXT 2025 was officially launched and the keynote could really get started with the following announcements and their dedicated articles:

Keynote #1: Closing Clap

Once all the technical announcements had been made, Rajiv Ramaswami handed the stage over to Mandy Dhaliwal, who, with undisguised pleasure, welcomed Chef José Andres. With his trademark sense of humor, he spoke to us about his personal vision of the values Nutanix embodies: Hungry, Humble, Honest, and with Heart.

Making a decision, whether good or bad, is always better than not making a decision at all – José Andres

He also told us about his work against world hunger through his organization “World Central Kitchen” and his various activities (writing books, opening restaurants, television shows, etc.).

Once the keynote was over, I rushed out to grab a quick meal before heading off to my certification…

Certification: NCM MCI 6.10 Beta, a Real Mess

Scheduled for 1:10 PM, nothing was ready! The examiners hadn’t anticipated the workstation preparation and had to do it urgently using USB drives…

I had to wait until 2:10 PM before being able to start the exam, and I wasn’t done with the surprises… Between the missing information in the statements, the information that was present but unclear, the various typos, the missing features in the interface (local account management on Prism Central, for example), and even the licensing issues… I think for a beta, it lived up to its name!

I won’t have the results until August, so stay tuned, but don’t expect much!

End of the Day

We ended the day in the exhibitor hall with drinks and some canapés at the OVHcloud booth. We then headed to the Nutanix EMEA evening, where we met partners and competitors in a rather pleasant setting.

The volume being quite high, we ended up changing locations to go to Jaleo, the restaurant of chef… José Andres! We were able to share tapas and drinks there before finally returning to our respective hotels to regain some strength for the 2nd day…

It couldn’t be a keynote without mentioning the NC2-validated cloud providers (Nutanix Cloud Clusters) and making an announcement!

An NC2 instance generally refers to Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), a solution developed by Nutanix to deploy and run hyperconverged infrastructures (HCI) in the public cloud while maintaining the same tools and practices as in a private data center.

To date, there are two main players:

  • AWS NC2, available and certified since 2020
  • NC2 on Azure, available and certified since 2022

During the keynote, the availability of Google Cloud NC2 instances was announced for the end of 2025, as well as seamless migration between an on-prem infrastructure and a Google Cloud infrastructure with Flow Virtual Networking..

That makes 3 US cloud providers, and no European ones… But my little finger tells me that OVHcloud is in the starting blocks to play in the big leagues… Stay Tuned!

Another announcement concerning AWS this time, the availability of Cloud Native for AOS!

Nutanix Cloud Native AOS (CN-AOS) integrates Nutanix storage directly into Kubernetes, without a hypervisor. This facilitates the management, portability, and resilience of containerized applications across the cloud, edge, or on-premises. CN-AOS unifies data and application management, simplifies disaster recovery, and leverages the robust Nutanix AOS architecture, suitable for modern hybrid environments.

Finally, one last announcement: Nutanix is partnering with Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, to offer Ubuntu Pro as an integrated option for its Kubernetes Platform (NKP). This collaboration aims to simplify deployment and strengthen the security of Kubernetes clusters, with features such as Livepatch (reboot-free kernel updates) and long-term support. Ubuntu Pro will be available with the NKP Pro and Ultimate editions. NKP remains flexible, also allowing the use of other Linux systems depending on customer needs.

Agentic AI (or agentic artificial intelligence) refers to a new generation of AI systems capable of acting autonomously to achieve complex objectives, with little or no human intervention. Unlike generative AI, which simply produces content in response to queries, agentic AI proactively plans, makes decisions, and executes actions.

Agentic AI combines the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) with advanced techniques such as probabilistic reasoning, reinforcement learning, and iterative planning. This allows these systems to analyze situations, formulate strategies, and act autonomously to solve complex problems.

Glenn Allison (Tractor Supply CO) joins Rajiv Ramaswami on stage to share his experience on how Nutanix helped them manage their business with artificial intelligence.

Nutanix’s strengths for Agentic AI:

  • Simplified deployment of AI models
  • Accelerated ROI
  • Operational readiness
  • Leading-edge performance
  • Unified platform
  • AI-enabled storage

Rajiv took advantage of .NEXT to share some statistics regarding the Nutanix Move migration tool, including:

  • 24,000 virtual machines migrated in 12 months for a financial products provider
  • 12,000 virtual machines migrated in 9 months for a Fortune 500 insurance provider
  • 100 virtual machines migrated in 2 weeks for the largest civil litigation firm in Florida

24,000 virtual machines in 12 months—that’s 2,000 VMs per month, 500 per week, and 100 per business day! That’s absolutely enormous! This impressive pace shows that the tool isn’t just designed for migrating small volumes; it’s also perfectly suited for large infrastructure migrations.

Secondly, he announced:

  • Support for Dell PowerFlex
  • In-place migration available by the end of 2025
  • Support for firewall rule migrations (NSX and others) to Flow Network Security starting this summer!

Nutanix Move is a powerful, high-performance, and easy-to-use tool that is constantly expanding with new features, facilitating the overall migration of an existing infrastructure to a Nutanix environment.

If you’d like to learn more about Nutanix Move, be sure to check out my comprehensive Nutanix Move guide.

We already heard about this announcement at Tech Connect in San Jose last October: the imminent arrival of Nutanix Central On-Premise!

Nutanix Central is a unified cloud console that allows you to view and manage all Nutanix services deployed either on-premises or on Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), which until now were only available in the cloud.

This operating mode is problematic for anyone who doesn’t want to be dependent on the cloud or can’t, such as isolated environments.

This is particularly the case for defense services such as the US Navy, which came specifically to talk to us about their migration to Nutanix using Move, the management of their ships using Nutanix, and the backup of their infrastructure using the HYCU Backup solution.

In particular, it will be possible to manage the entire deployment, configuration and update of remote clusters from a single management interface!

Rajiv’s first topic was the modernization of our infrastructure, with a major announcement regarding our platform architecture. Until now, we were used to HCI nodes, but Nutanix decided to change that and open up new possibilities by announcing support for external storage mixed with compute nodes!

Leading the way: DELL PowerFlex, which is already available, supported, and as easy to integrate and use as HCI platforms.

Moody’s was invited on stage to share their customer experience with this announcement. As part of the Early Access program, they were among the first to migrate from VMware to Nutanix on existing Dell PowerFlex hardware!

Following on from this announcement, Rajiv also announced a partnership with storage solutions provider Pure Storage, with support for Flash Arrays in Early Access starting in summer 2025 and Global Access by the end of 2025!

Pure Storage CEO Charles Giancarlo joined Rajiv to discuss this new partnership, the ease of integration, the power of this new combination, and the possibilities now available to customers.

Official Announcement : https://www.nutanix.com/press-releases/2025/nutanix-and-pure-storage-partner-to-deliver-greater-customer-choice

To conclude this segment dedicated to supporting external storage solutions, Rajiv presented “FlashStack,” a complete architecture based on:

  • CISCO Nexus switches
  • Pure Storage FlashArray / FlashBlade storage arrays
  • CISCO UCS Fabric Interconnect switches
  • CISCO UCS servers

This initial announcement may seem like a regression to the old 3-tier architecture models that differentiated network, compute, and storage, but that’s not the case. Until now, when you wanted to replace your infrastructure, for whatever reason, you were forced to discard your external storage arrays, which often required a significant investment and were not compatible with Nutanix.

Nutanix’s goal with this announcement is to enable customers looking for a high-performance and reliable hyperconverged system to reuse their existing hardware, thereby removing one of the barriers to adopting their hyperconverged system.

Among the existing End-user Computing solutions on the market, we’re all familiar with Citrix, which has been available and supported by Nutanix for some time.

As a reminder, Citrix End-User Computing (EUC) solutions are a set of technologies that enable businesses to provide secure, centralized, and high-performance access to applications, virtual desktops, and data, from any device, anytime, and anywhere.

Multi-cluster support for VDI under Citrix was also announced: https://www.nutanix.com/blog/multi-cluster-citrix-vdi-support-on-nutanix-ahv-with-prism#

Nutanix took advantage of the first .NEXT Keynote to announce the arrival of Global Access support for the Omnissa Horizon solution by the end of 2025.

Omnissa’s End User Computing (EUC) solutions are part of VMware’s EUC division, which became an independent entity in 2024 following its acquisition by the investment fund KKR. Omnissa positions itself as a major player in providing secure, intelligent, and adaptable digital work platforms, focused on the user experience, particularly with its dedicated virtual desktop product: Horizon 8.

For those interested in testing it, I visited their booth and they informed me that the open beta should begin in early summer.
